TYPICAL ITINERARY

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US
From the bustling city center to the sandy beaches that seem to form a halo around this Floridian playground, Fort Lauderdale is alive with activity. The waterways are dotted with luxury yachts from harbors around the world, and exclusive homes line the waterfront. The posh boutiques on Las Olas Boulevard cater to the sophisticated sun-worshipers who enjoy "the season" in Florida.

San Juan, Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico has been voluntarily associated with the United States since it was ceded by Spain in 1898. In 1952, this island country became a self-governing commonwealth territory of the United States. The capital, San Juan, is a teeming city of over 1.5 million. Remnants of colonial architecture stand side by side with the most modern high rises in this city of contrasts. The 7-square-block area, which contains the historic zone of Old San Juan, was once completely encircled by city walls and is still guarded by the impressive forts of El Morro and San Cristobal, which loom over the harbor as reminders of the centuries of Spanish rule. El Yunque rainforest, on the northeastern side of the island, is just one of many distinctive geographical features found here. Mountain lakes, waterfalls, teak forests, and three magnificent phosphorescent bays offer the visitor a variety of diversions.

Prickly Pear Island, British Virgin Islands
The lovely little island of Prickly Pear gets its name for its habitat that favors this cactus species. The island is situated in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda, which is generally considered to be the island Columbus named Saint Ursula. How and when Virgin Gorda became the "Fat Virgin," no one is certain. All land over 1,000 feet high on Virgin Gorda has been designated National Park, thus preserving its natural beauty. It is also known for long, exquisite white sand beaches, including several on Prickly Pear itself, which boasts some of the BVIs' loveliest. In 1964 Laurence Rockefeller built the island's first resort hotel at Little Dix Bay, and since then Virgin Gorda has continued to grow in popularity with visitors. Weather permitting the ship makes a brief stop off Spanish Town to disembark those guests going on tour. It then repositions to anchor off Prickly Pear where the crew gets set up to treat you to a complimentary Prickly Pear beach party. A tender picks up all guests on tour at Leverick Bay to return them directly to Prickly Pear in time for this event.

St. John's, Antigua
The first settlement on the island we now know as Antigua was not established until the 1600s, when English settlers arrived. Antigua remained a part of the British Commonwealth until its independence in 1981. Today, Antigua is a popular vacation destination, attracting tourists with its ideal climate, 366 beautiful beaches, amazing landscape and leisurely lifestyle.

Grande Anse, Martinique
Stunning volcanic history (in 1902 Mont Pelee blew open with catastrophic force), rum distilleries and blooms in every tropical hue await on this verdant "Island of Flowers."

Bridgetown, Barbados
Barbados has retained many of the trappings of its British colonial heritage. Judges and barristers wear proper robes and wigs, police don helmets styled after London bobbies and cricket remains a national passion. Barbados also has all the sporting appeal of the rest of the Caribbean, with pristine beaches, powerful surf and crystal clear waters. Brightly colored homes and hibiscus flowers mingle with mahogany trees and English churches dating back to the 17th century.

Roseau, Dominica
Once a prominent port under the protection of the Hanseatic League, Rostock still owes its importance to the sea. A fine view of the city, with a number of restored late-Gothic and Renaissance buildings, may be had from the harbor. Stroll through the heart of the medieval old town, with its eye-pleasing variety of architecture. The unusual Rathaus features seven slender decorative towers, giving it a profile similar to that of a birthday cake. Be sure to visit St. Mary's Church (Marienkirche), a handsome Gothic structure noted for its huge astronomical clock dating from 1472; its calendar extends to the year 2017. You may also wish to visit the ship docked permanently at the Port Center. After the fall of Communism, additional space was needed for the flood of consumer goods which swept in from the west, so the vessel was commandeered and converted into shops.

Montserrat, Montserrat
Montserrat is located in the Carribean, approximately 50 miles southwest of Antigua. The island consists of four main mountain massifs: Silver Hill, Centre Hills, Soufriere Hills and South Soufriere Hills. Montserrat has an active volcano that scientists call one of the most interesting in the world. Visit the Montserrat Volcano Observatory and learn about it, its history and its future. The awesome force of nature can be viewed from safe vantage points around modern-day Pompeii, Montserrat's old capital, Plymouth. Montserrat is also popular for its hiking trails, its winding mountain roads, lush mountain rainforests and its miles of hidden coastline. Its fascinating black-sand beaches and the popular white sand Rendezvous Beach also attract many visitors to Monserrat.

Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke British Virigin Islands
There are approximately 40 British Virgin Islands (the exact number varies from authority to authority), many of which are uninhabited. Some have only a handful of residents. Jost Van Dyke has a small population of its own families: the Turners, Grants, Ringes and Callwoods to name the majority. The desire to continue in the old ways is strong here, and "Jost" looks much as it must have looked 100 or 200 years ago. This archipelago is pristine and traffic light free. Weather permitting, your captain will anchor in this idyllic location and deploy the Marina for a day of play in the sea and sun.

Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos
The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British crown colony of more than 40 islands and small cays (only eight of which are inhabited). They offer numerous national parks, beautiful white sand beaches, nature reserves, sanctuaries and historical sites. Despite an increase in tourist numbers and a banking and insurance boom, the islands remain largely uncommercialized and unspoilt with small, personal places to stay and a heavy emphasis on ecotourism. Grand Turk is the islands' seat of government and commerce, as well as their historic and cultural center. The Turks & Caicos National Museum, situated on the waterfront, tells the story of the oldest shipwreck discovered in the Americas and exhibits rare prints and manuscripts from all of the islands. Front Street has a number of colonial buildings, dating from the early 19th century. They have imposing entrances in the high, whitewashed walls that surround their gardens. There are many delightful bays on the eastern shores of Grand Turk. The island is also an excellent base for diving and fishing.
