Koh Samui, Thailand
Ko Samui is an island of towering coconut trees, brilliant sunshine and beautiful white sand beaches. Visit the Big Buddha, an important symbol for the locals. Witness the stunning waterfall, Na Muang. Journey to Coral Island and play at being Robinson Crusoe for the day. Or simply watch the world go by under the shade of a coconut palm. Sample shore excursions: Coral Island Calm; Jungle Eco Safari by 4-Wheel-Drive.
Laem Chabang (Bangkok), Thailand
Once a small Khmer trading center, Bangkok has grown into one of the world’s most populous and cosmopolitan cities. Bustling streets and markets stand side by side with serene golden temples and glitzy nightclubs. Explore the architectural marvel of the Grand Palace. Discover Bangkok's largest Buddha at Wat Pho and shop the spectacular Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Sample shore excursions: A Day in the Thai Countryside; Bangkok Shopping; Tiger Zoo.
Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Known for its white sand beaches, warm Gulf of Thailand waters, and laid back atmosphere, Sihanoukville is a premiere beach lovers' destination. Built in the late 1950s, the town is much newer and more cosmopolitan than most Cambodian provincial cities. Spend the day exploring miles of unspoiled beaches or chose one and swim, snorkel or simply relax under a beach umbrella. Sample shore excursions: Sihanoukville & Environs; Swimming at Sokha Beach Resort.
Phu My, Vietnam
Whether you are on a wide boulevard admiring the French Colonial architectural influence, or in a bustling market haggling with a street vendor, you cannot escape the culture and history of this bustling city. Ho Chi Minh City is home to many colorful pagodas, cathedrals and palaces-including one of the city's oldest, Giac Lam Pagoda, dating from 1744. Sample shore excursions: Cambodia & Angkor Overland Adventure or Highlights of Ho Chi Minh City.
Nha Trang, Vietnam
White sand beaches, turquoise waters, beachfront cafés. Nha Trang's days as an underappreciated treasure are over. Still very much intact since the 7th century are the venerated towers of the Cham Ponagar Temple complex. Sample shore excursions: Nha Trang City Tour; Nha Trang Countryside.
Da Nang, Vietnam
Located on the South China Sea, Da Nang is a major port city and your gateway to the natural and ancient wonders of Vietnam. Gaze upon the five peaks of the Marble Mountains - long a source of inspiration for Vietnamese artisans; visit the palace and pavilions of Hue, the Imperial City of the Nguyen emperors; and explore the charming merchant town of Hoi An and nearby China Beach. Sample shore excursions: Artisans of De Nang; Rural Traditions; Imperial Hue.
Halong Bay, Vietnam
In the Bay of the Descending Dragon, mysterious landforms offer an ever-shifting panorama depending upon light and angle. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Halong Bay's unique beauty is thankfully preserved for generations to come.
Hong Kong, China
This is Hong Kong – have you rested? City-state, deep-water harbor, darling of empires, engine of global finance, shopper's paradise, cinematic trend-setter, world's most vertical city. Whew. Cruise to Hong Kong with Holland America Line and join the parade into one of the city's countless markets. Watch the hardworking world of Aberdeen's junks and sampans. Rise above it all on the tram ride to the top of Victoria Peak. OTHER INFORMATION
The beautiful garden theme of the Volendam is reflected in an artful floral motif throughout the ship's spacious public rooms and elegant staterooms. "Flowers" can be found in abundance in the forms of floral fabrics and tapestries, as well as huge vases of tropical floral arrangements and chrysanthemums. In addition to fresh flowers throughout the ship, Holland America Line has drawn on its collection of incredible artwork to enhance the interior of the ship's public spaces. Everything from pre-Columbian fetishes and sculptures to Renaissance-era fountains imported from Italy are included in its hallway galleries. At the heart of the ship an elegant sculpture by Luciano Vistosi, inspired by the myriad of moods and colors of a kaleidoscope, greets visitors in a soaring three-story atrium. Sail aboard the Volendam in 2009-2010 and explore Asia or Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. The Volendam also offers cruises to Alaska's Inside Passage and Glacier Bay.ABOUT Holland America Line
